Consumer Fraud Alert

The Finance Commission of Texas (Commission) has become aware of a fraudulent email and an attached letter that has the appearance of being sent from the Commission.  The email purports to approve a transfer of funds due to an inheritance.

The email is sent from the email account of “US Payment Center, Financial Monitoring Section, McKinney, Texas,” and is signed by a Michael Phils. The email requests the recipient to provide bank account information for the inheritance funds to be remitted.  This email and letter are FRAUDULENT.

Recipients should consider this email and letter as an attempt to collect personal or confidential information and to fraudulently obtain funds.  Recipients of this email should notify the Office of the Attorney General of Texas, Consumer Protection Division at
